My article on local (Massachusetts) vermouth makers and on vermouth cocktails appeared today in Edible Boston & Edible Worcester.

Vermouth: The Hero of Summer Session Drinking — Edible Boston

Photo by Michael Piazza / Styled by Catrine Kelty The summer heat makes me crave longer, more refreshing drinks than I do in the cooler parts of the year. Libations with lower ABV-strength are the polar opposites of those stiff spirit-forward Old Fashioneds and Manhattans of fall and winter. When

My article on four local amaro producers (whether due to tariffs making the imports too pricy or just because these taste delicious) just came out in Edible Boston/Edible Worcester.

After 16+ years, I finally wrote up my article on my city's rum distillery that produced Somerville Distillery Rum from the 1880s until Prohibition. This was a project that began in 2007-08 with a curiosity sparked by reading Wayne Curtis' And A Bottle of Rum that mentions Somerville rum and that led me to do research in starting in 2009.

My article on my favorite affordable Canadian whisky, Lot No. 40, that is a 100% rye and around 6 year old was published in Men's Journal (the text is mine, the title is theirs).

My first beer article got published in Men's Journal yesterday! It's about the history of bock beer, how it turned religious and spring-associated with the dopplebock, morphed over time into the weizenbock (and weizendoppelbock), maibock, and eisbock, and why there's a plastic goat on some of the bottles.
