Something approximating systematic analysis of noise complaints around data centers. tl;dr: noise issue is real, especially if you're within half a kilometer of the data center. More common if the DC has onsite power gen. if you are >800 meters, there does not appear to be noise issues. (There may be other effective mitigations but distance makes the heart grow fonder.) This...all makes sense to me? P.s. I notice train noise at night at my house but not during the day.
