As a progressive homeschooling parent, I find the disingenuous "parental rights" framing of the conservative homeschooling lobby so enraging. I don't homeschool my kids because it is my right against the government. I homeschool my kids because for me it is a better way of helping them ensure their own rights and discover their themselves. The state making sure it knows how many kids are receiving home education and that abusers don't use it as cover does not impede that goal at all
