In 1945 we were part of international committees for peace and trade, which we’re now withdrawing from. The economy was restructured to reduce wealth inequality, and we’re at the worst point of inequality ever. I don’t see a lot of money going to social welfare this time around. I assume the author did not mean exact parallels, but rather vast changes in our socioeconomic and political structures. In any case, we’re only two months into this term and it’s clear major change is coming.
