This essay brings to mind one of my most rewarding classes in college, a detailed, semester-long read of Kant's Critique of Pure Reason. The value wasn't in the text itself -- I rarely think about Kant in my day-to-day life -- but in the weekly struggle to write about an impenetrable book.
