Shen Yun has long been a point of intrigue for their aggressive advertising, anti-Chinese government messaging, and absolutely batshit ballet performance I had the delight of seeing several years ago. Scientology-but-in-China is an accurate description. Unfortunately, it seems the dance company / political movement / cult (HQ’d in Upstate NY like many cults!) is accused of violating child labor laws and other shady practices.
