I’m sad to see McMinnville restaurant ōkta close after only two years, as it sounded incredible and I was hoping to eat there one day. Pricing on par with French Laundry was way too high for this region. Oregon does not have the proximity to wealth nor the dialed-in level of experience delivery to thrive as a luxury destination. More generally, it’s a mistake to keep calling the Willamette Valley “the next Napa.” If anything, call it the next Sonoma.
