We don’t actually know whether marriage is good for people. What we do know is that married people, on average, outperform singles across nearly every dimension. They’re wealthier, happier, healthier, etc.
Is marriage good?
As I’ve written, I was raised in Evangelical Christian churches where leaders told me it was every woman’s sacred duty from God to marry a Christian man, have his kids, and raise them to be good Christians. Several new books argue that marriage is good for people from a nominally secular perspective.
