Huh, didn't realize till reading this that I've been playing in the same futsal league with city commissioner and potential future mayor Rene Gonzalez. Voted for his opponent, but his team has beaten mine so I guess we're even.

To some, Rene Gonzalez is the savior Portland needs to pacify a city under threat by crime and leftist policies. To others, he’s a villain, using his position as the least progressive council member (but far from conservative) to harm the city’s most vulnerable residents. With just over a year in office under his belt, he’s accomplished little to fully embody either of those caricatures.
