It seems wild to me that we still have syphilis. When it’s most transmissible it’s also easiest to treat with penicillin. Unless I’m missing something, the US government could eliminate syphilis entirely with universally accessible free and convenient STI testing and treatment.
A thot with thoughts on syphilis
I recently learned of the passing of an acquaintance from my SF days. I knew she had done some sex work and had been suffering from an ongoing illness she hadn’t named. I got the impression (though I certainly could be wrong and it doesn’t really matter) from a post from one of her friends that she might have been battling syphilis.
