The sad truth is that it takes me that long to try to determine whether what I’m thinking is going to be offensive. And even with that delay, I often make mistakes.

Last week, at another progressive happy hour, it happened right after I said about Alabama’s increasing likelihood of expanding Medicaid: “The one good thing about Republicans going fascist is that now they care about poor whites.”
