I think the stigma around shit and shit-related conditions is really fascinating. I’ve spent a lot of time reading and thinking about the stigma around sex. In a way, poop stigma is more interesting because it’s less straightforward.
A fate worse than death?
Well here’s a startling stat, from Wikipedia. In one study, 68.9% of patients said bladder or fecal incontinence was "worse than death.” That’s a very slightly larger percentage than said “requiring a breathing tube to live” was worse than death.
