I'm really intrigued by open social media protocols, but I'm not so convinced that building up a single, long-term, exportable social graph is the unalloyed good it's often assumed to be. Our identities are multiple and our networks should reflect that; plus, I've found that shaking things up with a new network can be a good thing, creating new connections and getting rid of ones that have gone stale. I don't want one network for everything; two cheers for silos!
